Production Accountant Lead

SUMMARY

KODA Resources is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Accounting Lead to support daily production reporting, allocation setup, and reconciliation workflows across operated basins. This role will play a key part in implementing best practices, training production accounting technicians, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations. The ideal candidate will bring oil and gas experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Internal Reporting

  • Monitor and analyze daily production data to ensure accurate measurement and volumetric allocations
  • Provide analysis and insights to internal teams and respond to production data inquiries
  • Support revenue accounting with monthly accruals and reconciliations
  • Maintain daily allocated volumes as the internal source-of-truth for field data

 

External Reporting

  • Coordinate with ONRR and the State of Utah to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Prepare and submit reports including OGOR, with focus on compliance and accuracy
  • Manage formatting and data submission to third-party reporting platforms

 

Allocation Design & Field Data Capture

  • Create and maintain well allocation setups in ProCount
  • Interpret field flow changes and update allocation design accordingly
  • Validate and troubleshoot eVIN data to ensure alignment with onsite volumes
  • Perform QA/QC on SCADA data imports to ProCount

 

Sales Reconciliation

  • Perform daily/monthly sales reconciliations of oil and gas volumes
  • Match volumes to third-party purchaser statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Validate oil tickets and gas statements against field volumes and trucking data
  • Reconcile plant balances to wellhead activity and streamline reconciliation processes

 

Training & Development

  • Support onboarding and training of production technicians
  • Identify knowledge gaps and assist with hands-on process guidance
  • Serve as a go-to resource for field and office-based production accounting questions

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide peer-level guidance and informal mentorship to others on the production accounting team.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8–10 years of oil and gas production and/or production accounting/reporting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and production reporting systems
  • Strong understanding of ProCount and eVIN required
  • Familiarity with ONRR, CFRs, and production-related agency compliance
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • P2 Merrick software experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with field and office personnel
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and self-motivated

 

REASONING ABILITY

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyze complex data and resolve anomalies
